Councilmember Teresa Barrett to Run for ReelectionWith fourteen years of public service experience, Councilmember Teresa Barrett has announced her intention to seek a second term on the Petaluma City Council. Councilmember Barrett intends to run on the same platform she did four years ago, her record of hard work, brutal honesty, responsible development, and commitment to Petaluma’s public good. Councilmember Barrett is pleased with the accomplishments of the past four years, including adopting a long-awaited General Plan, adding the requirement of fiscal economic impact analyses for large development projects, streamlining and upgrading the planning and design review process that had become hopelessly bogged down under a system of poor oversight and a lack of effective leadership. “While I have helped institute bold steps to improve the review process and get our city moving again, there is still much work left to be done. I hope the voters will allow me the opportunity to continue to serve our community.” Councilmember Barrett is looking forward to strengthening the economic underpinnings of both Petaluma and its city government. “We are finishing up our economic development strategy and are poised to guide the city and our region forward with a coherent plan for the first time. We need to be planning appropriately for the economic recovery, so that Petaluma is able to take advantage of our opportunities to create good paying jobs associated with redevelopment and the SMART commuter rail service.” By looking clearly at our future, with an eye on our past, Councilmember Barrett hopes to continue serving and representing all Petalumans who value our unique community and want to see it continue to be a great place to live and work. “I’ve compiled a record of committed, tireless service, only enhanced over the past four years, and I believe people have come to count on my experience, my even headedness and my willingness to work until the job is done. If reelected, I will continue to work tirelessly for our city and its residents.” The election is November 2nd. |
